There is no fixed adjustment calendar that suits every denture. Simon explains why checks and adjustments are different things.

A review does not always mean changing it

The team can assess your mouth, the denture's condition and how it functions without necessarily removing or adding material. Regular reviews remain useful even if you no longer have natural teeth, because the soft tissues still need examination.

Changes are individual

Remaining teeth, healing after extractions, wear, general health and the supporting ridge can all affect what is needed. A metal clasp becoming loose is a different issue from an acrylic base no longer matching the gums. Neither can be diagnosed simply from how old the denture is.

Bring forward the check if something changes

Do not wait for a routine appointment if the denture becomes painful, unstable or damaged. Tell the clinician what is different and agree the review interval that suits you. Simon discusses annual checks as a useful habit in the video; your dental team can set an individual schedule for your care.
