What’s the Best Denture Cleaner?

Talking Dentures video thumbnail: What’s the Best Denture Cleaner?

Tablets, pastes and gels can make denture cleaning sound complicated. Simon's main message is to choose something suitable for the material and to use it properly, rather than chase a single product that promises to do everything.

Choose a non-abrasive cleaner

Denture acrylic needs a gentler approach than natural enamel. An abrasive toothpaste can dull or scratch it. Ask which denture cream or cleanser is suitable, particularly if your appliance contains metal, a soft lining or another material with its own care instructions.

Cleaning and soaking have different jobs

Brushing removes deposits from the surface. A compatible soaking product can form part of the routine, but it does not remove the need to brush. Use the concentration and contact time on the product label, then rinse as directed before putting the denture back in.

Avoid experimenting with household products

The video discusses household alternatives and their disadvantages, including taste and fragrance. That is not a reason to mix cleaners or make your own acid or bleach solution. Bring your current products to an appointment if you are unsure. The team can help you establish a simple routine for your particular denture.
